Are we paying for steak,
but only getting baloney?

The pandemic put a spotlight on the massive need in East Carroll Parish for trustworthy digital inclusion services and drew much needed attention to digital inequities in our area.

Delta Interfaith – a coalition of congregations working across race, socio-economic and religious divides to improve the health and well-being of folks in East Carroll – mobilized last spring to research better internet for our area.

Our theory is that people in East Carroll pay too much for bad service.

The best way to prove the theory is to look at people’s internet bills – this shows the level of service people supposedly get and what they pay for it. For instance, one woman in the parish pays $90 for what is considered dial-up speeds!

Representatives of Delta Interfaith are reaching out to the community, asking them to share their internet bills. Delta Interfaith is partnering with Consumer Reports to analyze the information we get from the internet bills and advocate for better service. Consumer Reports works side by side with consumers for truth, transparency, and fairness in the marketplace.

Community members can help by providing a copy of your internet bill (back and front). Please blot out personal information (your name and account number) anywhere it appears on your bill.

You can use your phone and take a picture of it or send it through your email if you are paperless.   Text the image to (318) 372-0016 and or email Wmanning63@gmail.com.   This information is needed ASAP.  Thank you for helping get better internet to East Carroll.
